Producers can gain insights on increasing consumer expectations for ‘paddock to plate’ processing at the Beef Cattle Weaner Management for Grass-Fed Markets field day, being delivered by Hunter Local Land Services on Tuesday, 16 February.
The free event will outline developments in weaner management, meat processor expectations, and opportunities in the grass-fed market. It will include presentations by industry experts from Wingham Beef Exports, Ridley AgriProducts, and Hunter Local Land Services.
‘With the increasing demand for grass-fed finished beef products, Australian consumers are seeking ‘paddock to plate’ proof that their beef has been grass-fed only along the supply chain to participate in higher grid prices offered by processors,’ said Tim Brown from Ridley AgriProducts.
‘The scrutiny from consumers puts a fair amount of pressure onto producers to keep ahead of the game, but there are some pretty sophisticated systems now available to assist with this. We’ll be looking at some of these at the field day,’ Mr Brown said.
Land Services Officer Albert Mullen said the event will focus on practical information that is relevant for local producers when weaning stock to fatten for specific grass-fed grid pricing.
‘This is a great opportunity for landholders to get information first-hand from industry representatives,’ Mr Mullen said.
