It was a record breaking fundraiser for Gloucester Rotary with over 1000 people through the gate on Saturday and their biggest taking in the eight years the expo has been running.
The three day event hosted over 18 exhibits throughout the pavilions at the showgrounds, selling everything from tools to tyres and shirts to signs. Visitors came from around the state to browse through the goods in the ‘motorcycle only’ swap meet.
“Gloucester is a very popular venue for motorcycle tourism,” declared Sam de Witte, co-organiser of the expo.
He said the most popular event is the vintage motocross competition that has been held every year since the show’s inception. It is one of the biggest calendar events for the competition hosts, Heaven Vintage Motocross (VMX).
Greg Scriven, secretary of VMX, said they had 118 riders who must ride on bikes made from 1989 or earlier. VMX is a national club with 320 members from all over NSW, including several from Gloucester.
Unfortunately, they weren't able to complete their racing due to rain causing safety issues on the track. They will have the finals at their next meeting.
All monies raised from the expo will be donated to Men’s Shed, Westpac Rescue Helicopter Service and placing motorcycle safety signs on the Thunderbolts Way.
Gloucester Rotary would like to thank their tireless volunteers with special mention to the Men’s Shed, Ulysses Club, Trellis Earthworks, Dennell Transport, Maslen’s Water N Tipper Hire and Gloucester Rural Supplies.
