Both teams played the ball around the field demonstrating great team work and passing. The ball worked its way up and down the field with both the Cougars and the Panthers having scoring opportunities go wanting due in part to some excellent defence from both teams.
Trevor Bolton had a tremendous game in keeping the Cougars ever-changing offensive line-up away from the goal. Coupled with Paul Rosenbaum, Mark Coombs and the Callum brothers, Gloucester's attack down the left side made a huge impact on the final score.
The first half remained scoreless until, with about 10 minutes to go, Mark Coombs got a goal through a crowded defence. During the second half, the score started to slip away from the Cougars as Gloucester's youthful part of the team, Callum and Lachlan Howard, Jack Davis and Josh Shelley each, off some clever team play, edged a ball into the back of the goal. Although the Cougars were able to land one goal amongst this, it wasn't enough to save them from a final score line of 6-1.
