Caiden Wakefield, Cameron Turner, Nicholas Maslen and Ryan Beggs from Gloucester Public School joined Liam Chester from Gloucester High School in the once in a lifetime opportunity offered by the arts unit of the NSW Department of Education. The boys vocal program is a non-audition singing program aiming to provide a professional experience of the music industry.
Boys from years five to 11 from across the State participated in two days of rehearsals with vocal tutor Stuart Davis at ABC Studio’s Eugene Goossens Hall. Then they had the opportunity to complete a day of recording at Sydney's Studios 301 at Alexandria.
Throughout the three days, 108 boys from 34 schools across NSW developed a film clip to accompany their final recording.
Teachers also undertook professional learning with a master choir director in order to develop their skills in vocal warm-ups, teaching harmonies and conducting tips.
The program was visited by His Excellency, General David Hurley, the Governor of NSW.
Students were lucky to meet and talk about the music industry with recording artists, Glades who were also recording at Studios 301.
Caiden Wakefield had the added honour of being able to record a solo guitar piece for part of the song.
