The Forster Tuncurry Hawks were playing the Taree City Bulls in the gathering darkness on Sunday afternoon and according to the publicity officer from the Hawks it was a Taree player who was injured.
“It is not known at this stage the extent of his injury but the Hawks club would like to extend their best wishes to the young man and his family, and hopes for a speedy recovery,” wrote Michael Selfe.
The Westpac Rescue Helicopter Service said the man was being airlifted as a ‘precautionary measure’.
