The Australian Stock Horse Society Gloucester Branch hosted the event from July 5 to 7, for riders aged from eight to 18, for the second year running .
Attendees included 30 children from Sydney, Goulburn, the Central Coast and locals coming together to learn horse riding skills.
Event organiser Taryna Turner said it was a good number of children allowing each of them to have some focused time with the instructors. The children participated in numerous activities during the jam packed days. They learned things like polocrosse, showjumping and led classes.
Taryna said the idea behind it is to show how a stock horse can be used for all riding needs from dressage to campdrafting. She said these type of events are where children make lasting friendships.
“They make quality friends for life who have the same love of horses and horse riding,” she said.
The instructors were local, with a former resident coming back to teach the children. Some of them worked for free because of their love for riding and the joy of helping children learn.
