Michael Johnsen, Member for Upper Hunter made the announcement with John Barilaro Minister for Regional Development, Skills and Small Business during the Regional Competitive Advantage event on Friday, July 22.
Mr Johnsen said the NSW Liberals-Nationals government is supporting a range of economic initiatives to support business growth Gloucester.
“The NSW Government is funding a part-time position worth $25,000 to work with MidCoast Council, our local business groups, community organisations and government to look at sustainable economic development initiatives,” Mr Johnsen said.
“This new role will help to attract new investment and businesses to Gloucester as well as support the growth and sustainability of our existing local businesses.
“We’re also supporting the Gloucester Business Chamber (GBC) with $14,000 of funding for a new Business Retention and Expansion Program being undertaken by the Chamber with the support of Advance Gloucester and Destination Gloucester.
“These funds will help the GBC develop a snapshot of the Gloucester economy, identify any impediments for businesses and assist businesses to access support to start-up, scale up and innovate in the existing local supply chain.”
Mr Johnsen said the NSW Government will continue to support regional towns like Gloucester as they engage in initiatives attracting businesses to regional areas as part of the NSW Government’s strategy.
“Our local community and businesses in Gloucester are doing some fantastic work in promoting the town and I’m thrilled to be here today to see it first-hand,” Mr Johnsen said.
