The club formed in 1952 by founding members, George Paterson, Tom Lynch, Jack Bidner, Dudley Paterson, Max Ross and Mack McKinnon. They developed the course on land lent to the club by owner George Paterson. Tom Lynch, the first club president, provided the clubhouse building from a property in Belbora which sits on land owned by the club.
Krambach is a unique golf course with fences around every green set up on a working farm that has continually supported cattle. The grounds have been maintained over the years by a green keeper with any extra work undertaken by volunteers.
Women started playing in 1954 with just 11 starters. The most outstanding female player was Shirley Moore, who was the Club Champion for 16 consecutive years. The women at Krambach Golf Club are renowned for their excellent hospitality and catering skills demonstrated during open days and charity functions.
The veterans started playing in 1997 and within 12 months had 44 members. Norm Bunting was the first vice captain and is still plays regularly. Tom Paterson also plays with the Veteran and the members.
Club director, Pam Paff said the Krambach community has been very fortunate to be able to enjoy playing golf due to the generosity of the Paterson family. Once they have played their last round of golf, the club will be looking to sell the clubhouse.
Club director, Moya Harris hopes the new owners will keep the memorabilia as a tribute to the legacy of the club.
“To keep the memory going as part of the new life for the building,” Ms Paff said.
