- Scott Wratten's 200th game
His outstanding game was ably supported by the halves Riley Collins and Hayden Tull who pulled in their passes to counter the gusting winds. It meant the wingers saw very little ball but Hayden Tull adjusted his kicking game, leading to three of Gloucester tries. Jonah Cornelius out marked the defence for two of his three tries and Craig Murray scored from a grubber kick into the ingoal by the five eighth.
At half time Karuah was keeping in touch with two tries; one off the back of a wind assisted 40/20 and another when their front rower made a strong break through the middle of the ruck.
Gloucester led 20-10 at half time and scored off their first set in the second half when Craig Murray crossed. Corbin Predebon then gave the Magpies a comfortable buffer with a great individual try from 40 metres out, beating several defenders before putting the ball down adjacent to the posts.
Mitchell Turnball gave the Gloucester attack plenty of momentum in an outstanding game in attack while Jason Boorer snuffed out the Karuah attack every time they went wide down the left side. His ball and all defence was uncompromising, forcing opponents into touch and preventing the Karuah attack getting any go forward.
Coen Durbridge scored a try in the first half and it is a credit to both he and Jonah Mason for their contribution this year while studying for their Higher School Certificate (HSC). Final score was 50-22 to Gloucester.
Magpies go to Lakeside again next Saturday to take on the minor premiers Hinton.
