Police first encountered the 30-year-old Victorian when conducting traffic control on the Pacific Highway at North Arm Cove at 9.30am Thursday.
Driving a blue Ford Falcon, the Victorian sped northward past police, sparking a pursuit that was called off shortly after due to safety concerns.
About 10 minutes later police spotted the battered blue Falcon again on the highway.
Another pursuit began but this was also terminated as the driver left the highway at Coolongolook, taking to the winding back roads in an attempt to lose his pursuers.
The pursuits prompted police to spin into action around the region, with officers monitoring traffic at intersections at Nabiac, Krambach and Gloucester.
Throughout the day and early evenings there was numerous sightings reported of the blue Falcon around Krambach and Gloucester.
But police had no luck in running down the offender until about 10.30 on Thursday night, when sharp-eyed officers spotted the wanted vehicle parked in the Krambach township.
Police were able to sneak up and arrest the 30-year-old occupant.
He was charged with a number of offences, ranging from speeding crimes to covering his number plates.
Police also discovered that the man was wanted for offences committed in Victoria, although it appears unlikely that he’ll be extradited to face these.
He was bail refused to face Taree Local Court on Friday.
