Application originally opened under the former Gloucester Shire Council on January 20 and closed on April 18. Council received 13 applications from community groups and organisations seeking a total of $57,423 in funding and $16,000 of in-kind support.
The former Gloucester Shire Council Management Group had recommended six application be funded totalling $20,333. Administrator, John Turner approved all recommendations during the council meeting.
The following applicants have been successful: Gloucester Arts and Cultural Council Inc (GACCI) – Gallery Director funding, Helloworld’s Santa in Gloucester – Christmas activities, Gloucester Anglican Op Shop – Air conditioner, Rotary Club of Gloucester – Excerise station signage, UCA Lifeline Midcoast – Living Works SafeTALK and Bucketts Way Neighbourhood Group Inc – Electrical Tag and Test. With two in-kind successful applications from Gloucester Mountain Man Tri Challenge and Gloucester Chill Out Festival.
Aged Care Update
MidCoast council has confirmed Anglican Care had not completed the purchase of the land prior to the council amalgamation for their purposed Aged Care Facility.
“Staff at MidCoast Council are keen to work with Anglican Care to ensure that the commitments given by the former Gloucester Shire Council are met and a new aged care facility is constructed,’ said Paul DeSzell, Director Community Spaces and Services
Mr DeSzell plans to meet with Colin Osborne, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Anglican Care after Mr Osborne returns from leave.
