The bountiful late winter rains arrived in time for the club’s last scheduled meeting at Peter and Shirley Hazell’s garden, so it was off to the Barrington Hall out of the rain and cold. Here, members heard from Bonnie Werz in the show and tell section of some vintage crockery pieces, Bonnie entertained members with the history of these pieces and her family; Marjorie Rees told of a community garden in Fairbanks, Alaska, and of a very large Moose in their Alaskan garden; and Peter Hazell demonstrated how he repots and cares for a variety of orchids.
The club members will vote to select a new club logo at the September meeting.
Three new members were welcomed to the meeting with the club membership now over 80.
A bus load of members from Lake Macquarie Garden Club will visit Gloucester on September 20 with another coach visiting on 23rd from Kur-in-gai Horticultural Society with some gardens are open for their inspection.
