A 76-year-old man has been arrested and is now assisting police after he was allegedly disarmed of a shotgun, following a standoff at a Dyers Crossing business.

Police were called to Dyers Produce, Landscape Supplies and Barnyard Cafe at about 12.20pm on Wednesday September 21, following reports that a man armed with a shotgun was threatening occupants at the business.
Police had been told that a witness confronted the armed man before wrestling the gun from him.
Upon arrival, police commenced negotiations with the man, who surrendered at about 12.50pm.
The man, from Dyers Crossing, was arrested and taken to Foster Police Station where he is currently assisting police with their inquiries.
Manning Great Lakes Local Area Command chief inspector Christine George said no shots were fired and no one was harmed in the incident.
An item of clothing and a shotgun, which appeared to have the barrel sawn off, were left in the business premises.
The business announced on its Facebook page on September 16 that it was shutting down, with the Barynard Cafe closing on September 17.
