MidCoast Council has been working in partnership with the NSW Government’s Roads and Maritime Services (RMS) on this project to proactively identify future boating requirements in the towns of Tea Gardens/Hawks Nest, North Arm Cove and Nerong.
The investigation has been carried out by Royal Haskoning consultants and is part of the NSW Boating Now program, which aims to ensure that our waterways remain safe and accessible.
MidCoast Council’s Parks and Natural Assets officer (Forster office) Andrew Morris is looking forward to hearing from people within these communities.
“We’ve met with representatives from local community groups, various government agencies and council staff to develop the draft plans.
“Now we’d like to meet with the wider community to hear their thoughts and see if there are any boating needs that the plans haven’t addressed,” said Andrew.
“Boat ownership in our region is up there with the highest in the state and the number of people kayaking/canoeing has doubled since 2005.
“We’d like to hear from locals about what extra facilities they’d like to see and anything else they can think of that would enhance their experience,” added Andrew.
