Rumours have been buzzing around Gloucester about the disappearance of all the green Gloucester Shire Council signs marking the entrance to the region.
The signs vanished from their posts shortly after the council amalgamation in May 2016. Background story here
Questions have been raised about the fate of the signs since the Greater Taree Council and Great Lakes Council sign still remain.
Thanks to Rob Griffiths, manager governance for MidCoast Council, the mystery is solved.
“The signs are sitting here in the office,” he said.
The former Gloucester Shire Council removed the signs once the council merger was announced.
They have, however, kept the iconic platypus sign, at the southern entrance to town .
There are no plans to replace the signs until the rebranding of MidCoast Council is completed and the new name and logo are decided upon.
Council is currently holding workshops with a cross-section of the community from around the MidCoast region to help develop the future image of the new council.
