Manning Valley Business Chamber (MVBC) at its December 13 meeting unanimously agreed to pursue the new structure that is to be created from executives of individual chambers located throughout the newly formed MidCoast Council local government area. The business chambers identified are Taree, Forster, Gloucester, Wingham, Harrington, Old Bar, Bulahdelah and Myall Coast.
The creation of MidCoast Council and its decision to end its Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with MVBC was a catalyst for the decision to review the structure and function of business chambers in the region.
MVBC president Jeremy Thornton said the proposed MidCoast Business Chamber would “leave all local chambers to operate day-by-day on their own local issues, but come together and meet with council and other stakeholders on economically significant projects.”
