29 riders from Australia and America have been confirmed for the 2017 Troy Bayliss Classic at Taree Motorcycle Club on January 21 after the list was revealed on Sunday.
America will be well represented as Henry Wiles, Sammy Halbert and 2015 Classic champion Jared Mees have been confirmed to start.
Following his recovery from a broken collarbone, 4 time AMA Grand National Champion and X-Games Gold medalist Mees will use the Taree track as his return event for 2017.
The local contingent will continue to stake their claim as Taree’s Josh Hook returns from a busy international schedule while Wauchope’s Michael Kirkness will look to add to his Classic collection after winning the inaugural event in 2013.
Event organiser, 2014 Classic champion and former Superbike World Champion Troy Bayliss will once again line up for the event.
Competitors will look to make amends for last year’s race after the finals were washed out due to rain.
Rider numbers are slightly down on last year after 35 competitors took to the track.
Considered one of Australia’s most iconic motorcycle events, the Classic is set to once again attract thousands of locals and racing enthusiasts from around the state.
The car park will be open from 7am with entry to the track available from 9am.
Racing gets underway from 10am.
Tickets can be purchased at the gate or via online at www.troybaylissevents.com
