Mathew Higgins is an active member and volunteer for many sporting groups and committees and is currently the president of the Gloucester Magpies Senior Rugby League Football Club and Gloucester Senior Cricket Club.
He runs the local touch football and participates in many of the sports that he is involved in including lawn bowls and men’s tennis.
Mathew is a referee for the Junior Rugby League Football Club and attends every home game giving support and advice to the children attending.
Christine Parker has been a volunteer for the Bucketts Way Neighbourhood Group since 2002 as a Health Transport Driver taking people to doctors and specialist appointments in Taree, Forster, Port Macquarie, Newcastle and Sydney.
This has equated to 768 volunteer hours and 140 trips and 30,040 kilometres over the year.
Christine provides physical and emotional support to the residents she transports by making sure they are assisted on and off the bus, ensuring that they don’t go hungry during the day and assists at the doctor’s appointment when needed including relaying messages from the doctor.
Penny Drake-Brockman is an advocate in the education and the protection of flora and fauna leading courses in bird identification and bird friendly gardening.
She was a founding member of the Tucker Patch, has been an active member of the Gloucester Environment Group and has been involved many environmental projects including bush regeneration and weed clearing.
Penny was involved in Friends of the Grey-Crowned Babbler who were instrumental in the setting up of the Babbler Walk. Currently Penny volunteers as a guide at the Mountain Maid Mine in Copeland. She recently won the Environmental Achievement Award in the Keep NSW Beautiful Blue Star Awards.
Bob Tebbet is a very active member of the community assisting many groups when needed including the design and construction of the Gloucester Tidy Towns State Awards display in 2015. He was the initiator and driving force behind the Tree Change weekends and formed the group, Destination Gloucester.
Bob’s an Elder of the Gloucester Uniting Church and a founding team member of the church’s Café on Cowper supplying meals for needy residents.
He’s a member of the Gloucester Show Society, a volunteer for the Gloucester Junior Rodeo and a volunteer for the Gloucester Tri Challenge.
Bob has co-ordinated the 2013 Bakers Creek Charity Horse Ride, the Bakers Creek Bush Bash 2012 and co-ordinates the annual Bakers Creek Melbourne Cup Day charity events. He also co-ordinates the annual Bakers Creek Christmas Party with hampers donated to the needy.
Robert Sparke has been an outstanding community member and volunteer on many local groups since moving to Gloucester in 2007, including the Australia Day Committee, Gloucester Prostrate Group, Probus and the Gloucester and Districts Garden Club.
He’s the chairperson of the Anglican Church Parish of the Gloucester Men’s Dinner Group. As a member of the parish, he’s involved in the St Paul’s Op Shop, sorting clothing and goods and volunteering in the Op Shop every Tuesday.
Robert is a Synod Representative, part of the Samaritans Emergency Relief Team and the chairperson of the Friends of St Paul.
