The celebration will begin with the raising of the flag and the traditional Australian breakfast of bacon, egg and sausage sandwiches; expertly prepared by the CWA, Quota, Lions and Rotary Clubs for a gold coin donation
At 9:00am Australia Day Committee Chair Judy Earle will welcome this year’s Ambassador Peter Mclean and John Hannaford, a representative for the Federal Member for Lyne, Dr David Gillespie who will both deliver keynote addresses.
Awards presentations will be made to the winners of the Best Dressed Competition, Colouring-in Competition, Best Business Display, Project of the Year, Citizen of the Year and Young Citizen of the Year.
Ms Earle encourages children, young people, mums, dads, grandparents and visitors to attend Gloucester’s unique breakfast and official program of events and to enjoy coming together in a spirit of friendship and community on this special day in our national and local calendar.
The Australia Day Ambassador Program sends high achieving and proud Australians to local Australia Day celebrations in towns and cities across the nation.
The Program supports the growth of Australia Day celebrations in NSW, through the involvement of high achieving and distinguished Australians who come from a wide range of backgrounds.
Afternoon and Evening at the Pool
Entry to the Gloucester Swimming Pool Complex will be free for the afternoon from 2.00–7.00pm.
There will be a lolly drop for all children attending, as well as the Mr Willy Doodrop and Bubbles the Clown Show. The show includes ball juggling, club and cricket bat juggling, plenty of magic tricks, audience participation, music, a game and for the finale, club and cricket bat juggling on a six foot unicycle!
Throughout the show the children and adults are kept very amused with Mr. Doodrop's quick wit, very funny patter and Bubbles the Clown's cheeky interactions. Improvisation is plentiful!
A barbecue will be available provided by the Gloucester Lions Club.
