Around 4.15pm police were patrolling Barrington when they were stopped by a witness who had noticed a vehicle parked on the wrong side of Barrington East Road with occupants appearing to be intoxicated. 

Police went to search the road and came across the Holden Commodore, on a blind corner, reversing as they approached. The car stopped and police activated their lights as they pulled up behind the vehicle. When the reverse lights came back on the police sounded their horn but the car continued to reverse colliding with the front of the stationary police vehicle. The driver tested positive to a road side breath test and was placed under arrest.

While speaking with police through the open window, the passenger of car threw a lit cigarette out the window and onto the road. After the police extinguished the lit cigarette, the 34 year old Victorian man was issued with a $450 fine for aggravated littering.

After issuing the fine, police took the driver to the Gloucester Police Station where he given a breath analysis, returning a reading of 0.229. The driver’s licence was immediately suspended and his vehicle keys confiscated. He will appear at Gloucester Court in February charged with High Range PCA and negligent driving.
