Students lined the harbour’s foreshore for the ‘Salute to Australia Day’ program, part of the Australia Day program on January 26.
The 17 Gloucester singers performed the National Anthem, I Am Australian and the Waratah song while stationed at Hickson Road Reserve.
Students from Crescent Head Public School were the featured choir and performed from on board the HMAS Canberra along with featured soloists from the Schools Spectacular and Tina Arena.
The performance was echoed by the mass choir performing at satellite locations around the Sydney Harbour foreshore.
GPS responded to an expression of interest put out by the NSW Department of Education to participate in the event and were selected due to their talent, enthusiasm and commitment from such a vast distance.
The event organisers were particularly thrilled to have students from rural and remote areas as well as metropolitan areas participating in the prestigious ceremony.
The Salute to Australia ceremony is part of the Sydney Harbour program, with the Australian Army, Royal Australian Navy and Royal Australian Air Force (RAAF) conducting a tri-service Salute.
