President Marg Steel said, “between June and December of 2016 the Great Lakes and Manning branch helped subsidise the de-sexing of 300 animals”.
“Health wise it can stop testicular cancers and help reduce roamings,” she said.
“If the animals aren’t motivated to roam they won’t get into fights, which when serious, can create more vet bills. De-sexing can also create a calmer and more relaxed animal.”
Money is raised by the Manning and Great Lakes branch through the Animal Welfare League NSW opportunity shop at Tuncurry.
“We are grateful for our shop volunteers – we couldn’t do it without them.”
Vets in the Great Lakes, Taree, Wingham, Gloucester and Kempsey are taking part. For inquiries please phone 0408 670 757.
