Members of the Gloucester Thunderbolts Swimming Club had a whole lot of crazy fun at the pool on Saturday, February 18.

Competitors from around the region joined the Gloucester swimmers for the club’s annual picnic carnival held at Gloucester Swimming Pool Complex.
There were 107 competitors from six swimming clubs from around the region participating in the competition as well as Gloucester Thunderbolts Swimming Club - one less from last year’s event.
Clubs that made the journey were from Dungog, Taree, Forster, NU Swim, Raymond Terrace and Wingham.
It was a hot day, with the predicted storms holding off long enough for all the events to be completed.
The swimmers from the Gloucester Thunderbolts Swimming Club swam well against tough the competition.
They took home lots of medals and many personal bests were swam.
It’s the Gloucester club main fundraiser with the fees collected per race, the raffle and the barbecue all going toward supporting local swimmers.
The morning kicked with the over 30s men’s and women’s 50 metre freestyle race, with swimmers participating from most club.
The Gloucester club president, Dave Windred walked away with the bronze.
Gloucester swimmer, Peter Beard was due to be the favourite after taking home the bronze last year but due to his firefighting commitments he was unable to attend. The club hopes for his return for next year’s event.
There were 101 events throughout the day including the relay races.
The Gloucester Thunderbolts Swimming Club nine and under freestyle relay team Kamryn Beard, Jackson Moore, Ruby Bradbury and Olivia Kearney won the gold medal.
“We would like to thank all our amazing members and parents for their help with running another successful carnival," club member Leanne Kearney said.
“And to our young swimming for showing such good sportsmanship and doing the club proud.”
