There were four players competing in each team; Barrington: Dean Germon, Zane Commons, Toreen Denyer and Natalie Rayner. For Gloucester: Sam Ashton, Nic Maslen, Shania Richards and Elyssa Keen.
While there were some very experienced players on each team, there were also players who had never competed in a formal game of tennis, a testimony to the keenness of the students and their drive to represent their school.
Eight sets were played in total, including boys singles, girls singles, mixed doubles and boys and girls doubles.
The scores on the day did not clearly represent the closeness of some matches and also the quality of the play.
Gloucester boys dominated all their sets, with the Barrington girls to be congratulated, winning both a singles and the girls doubles match, also pushing one of the mixed doubles matches to a nail biting finish.
Gloucester team were the overall winners and will now move onto the next round to play Forster Public School later this month.
All students clearly enjoyed the morning of friendly competition, as did the parents who supported.
