Pre-opera entertainment will be provided from 1.30pm by local musicians with special guest, actor and singer Ben Mingay. Ben performed as a lead in the successful musical Jersey Boys and has also appeared on our screens in several popular programs and films.
At 4pm, audiences will be swept away by the craft of the highly talented artists bringing to life the glorious music, rich costumes, and dances from Eugene Onegin.
The production, sung largely in English but with select pieces in the original Russian, is set to be a pinnacle piece for the company and the perfect platform for their ongoing commitment to emerging artists and taking quality opera from the city to rural and remote towns.
This very special production draws us into the world of Eugene Onegin, a man with movie star good looks, money, and the world at his feet, but where none of these privileges can save him from himself.
Eugene Onegin will commence at 4pm on Saturday, April 1, and will run for just under two and a half hours with an interval. It’s an outdoor picnic event (BYO food, drinks and seating). Gates open at 1pm. A pre-booked High Tea will also be available in Langford prior to the opera.
