Gloucester students from pre-school and primary school joined in on the National Simultaneous Storytime today (May 24) at 11am.
Gloucester and Barrington Street preschools and the kindergarten to year two students from Gloucester Public School (GPS) all sat down to listen to the same story at the same time.
The preschoolers listened to the Australian published story, The Cow Tripped Over the Moon, read out by regular readers, James Hooke and Pippa Robinson at the Gloucester Library.
GPS had the same story read by teacher librarian, Kim Macdonald while they feasted on their recess snacks.
More than 600,000 children were expected to take part in the Australian Library and Information Association's (ALIA) National Simultaneous Storytime (NSS) in more than 4500 locations across the country, such as libraries, schools, bookshops, hospitals and homes.
It’s annual event that aims to encourage young Australians to read and enjoy books during Library and Information Week from May 22 to 28.
