Gloucester’s Veterans Week of Golf is beginning to wind down with the last day of the main competition played today (May 25) at Gloucester Country Club.
With what started off to be a bleak and raining Monday morning, has developed into a beautiful week to golf.
Organisers are extremely happy with how the week has played out and the conditions for the days of play.
Tomorrow will be a social event with players taking part in a 2BB (a two ball, best ball) competition.
The general feeling from players was that the location for a week of golf was excellent.
“It’s an absolutely beautiful course,” player Micheal Maher from Hawks Nest said.
He said it’s not just the picturesque backdrop of the Bucketts, but the actual condition of the course, which he said has been very well maintained by the groundskeeper.
Gloucester Veterans Golf member, Denver Webb explained that the green is made of a grass call “bent” that is very difficult to grow in Gloucester’s climate but makes an excellent green.
Players will wrap up the week tomorrow, but many are already making plans for next year.
