Recently completed works in Billabong Lane, included an upgrade of the existing pavement, improvements to the existing stormwater system, improved driveway entrances, new kerb and guttering signage and line marketing improvements.
“The result will be improved drainage in this busy strip, as well as greater accessibility for nearby businesses and a smoother safer road surface,” council’s works engineer, Claire Shultz explained.
Road crews have been completing a number of other projects in the area, including Bundook Road, resealing undertaken in conjunction with the Gloucester Tops Road seal extension.
Additional works included shoulder clearing and maintenance, guardrail installation and stabilised patching.
“We’ve also completed improvement works in Boundary Street and our bridge crew is nearing completion in the replacement of Geales Bridge”, Claire added.
The Geales Bridge project will see the existing timber deck replaced with a composite steel and concrete deck, providing a safer route for local traffic and reduced on-going maintenance costs.
These projects are part of MidCoast Council’s ongoing commitment to improving infrastructure across the region and have been funded by the former Gloucester region’s special rate variation (SVR).
