The A24 Sustainable Futures Gloucester Event was held in conjunction with Common Cause Australia and Sustainable Futures Gloucester on June 20 and 21. The events are held across Australia, hearing the views of people from different communities, backgrounds and cultures.
Common Cause Australia facilitator Sandy Killick led the discussion and said the Gloucester community is embracing common ideals regarding the future of the nation.
"A couple of people said what heartened them was that everybody in the room is looking for the same thing.
"It's about building bridges between communities and individuals who don't normally chat to each other and that's the really positive,” Ms Killick said.
The discussions encouraged attendees to think about what is important to them, what inspires them and what actions they would take if they were Prime Minister.
"People aren't waiting for other people to take leadership.
“They're finding ways of doing it themselves.

“That's incredibly positive and inspiring for other parts of Australia.
"Good work Gloucester,” Ms Killick said.
Former Gloucester mayor Julie Lyford attended the meeting and said she was pleased to hear the positive thoughts of the community.
“We had a great cross-section of the community attend and what was really interesting was that everybody from wherever they sat came to the same conclusions.
“We want safe, purposeful communities, that well-being was at the centre of it and we all need to be in a clean, green environment where it is livable.
“Community conversations are very important, we’ve had them in Gloucester for many years,” Ms Lyford said.
