The Gloucester Scorpions 14s Drifta team defeated the Taree Wildcats 5-0.

On Saturday, July 1,  the Gloucester Scorpions 14s Drifta team played against the Taree Wildcats at our home ground.

Although Taree were placed 8th and Drifta 3rd on the ladder, it was not an easy first half with Taree making the first few runaways and Drifta having a few less players due to the school holidays.

Isaac stepped up and donned on the number 1 shirt and saved some great goals.

Kelly, Lane, Beau and Zeke all kept the pressure on Taree’s goalkeeper during the first half. A nice through ball from Aiden across to Kayden gave Drifta  a 1-0 lead at half time.

A few injuries resulted after some hard tackles during the first half, sent Kelly to the keeper's position supposedly for a rest from the field, though he had a stellar performance in goals, saving countless attacks from their strikers.

Zeke was on fire and bagged a hat trick for himself all within a few minutes. Josh, Harrison and Beau were unlucky with their attempts at goals not to find the back of the net or had been called back for off side.

Aiden hammered their goalie with an unstoppable ball into the bottom corner of the net, bringing the score to 5-0 full time.

Joseph, Will, Hayden and Tristyn were kept busy in the defensive zone and provided us with another clean sheet this week.

Congratulations on another great game this week.

Drifta will take on Tuncurry Gold at South Street, Tuncurry on Saturday, July 15 at 9am.
