This was the first carnival for the 10 years team and the 12 years teams so the girls were very excited.
The 16 years Gloucester Rebels team encountered tough competition on the day, finishing 3rd in their division.
The 14 years Gloucester Gladiators team had six games for the day with two wins and a draw to finish 5th.
The 12 years team, played together for the first time and had a solid day.
They won two of their five games to finish 2nd in their division.
The youngest team of the day, the Gloucester Devils, played amazing. All the girls worked hard on the court (watching on you wouldn’t think it was the first time they played as a team).
The Devils played six games in the carnival, with the final game of the day the decider for first and second. The girls had won all their previous games, as had the team from Nelson Bay.
The Nelson Bay team were determined to win, but the Gloucester girls stuck to their game play and came out on top, with a final score of 6-5.
Thank you to all the players, parents, and particularly the coaches, umpires and team managers. It was a great day with lots of team spirit shown and as a bonus the teams were lucky to be blessed with a lovely sunny day and no wind.
The next carnival will be Taree on August 6 and Hastings on the August 13.
