Member for Lyne Dr David Gillespie said grants of up to $20,000 would be available for eligible small capital projects which will deliver social benefits to local communities.
Previous beneficiaries of the program include Taree Croquet Club and Wingham Preschool.
Groups and organisations will be required to match the grant in cash or on at least a dollar for dollar basis.
Dr Gillespie said the initiative aims to fund small community projects that would otherwise not be funded.
“This may be a new kitchen for the sports club or a new coat of paint for a community group, men’s shed, senior citizen’s club or sewing club,” he said.
Dr Gillespie will appoint a community consultation group that will assess all expressions of interest.
Any organisation or community group seeking a grant is urged to visit Dr Gillespie’s website to register its interest.
