Members of the Mid North Coast Stop Adani campaign will deliver the results of a recent survey to Lyne MP Dr David Gillespie’s office in Taree on Friday, August 11.

The survey of Lyne electorate residents was conducted by Climate Change Australia (CCA) and the Mid North Coast Stop Adani campaign.
CCA spokesperson Kerri-ann Jones said the survey revealed “some remarkable results.”
“Of those surveyed:
- 100 per cent oppose a $1 billion loan of public money for Adani's proposed coal mine in Queensland;
- 98 per cent oppose the building of the Adani coal mine altogether;
- 98 per cent of people said that they want you, their local Member, to take a stand to stop Adani's proposed coalmine; and
- 100 per cent believe that it's time to make the transition to renewable energy sources like wind and solar.”
Ms Jones said the group believes it is important that Dr Gillespie understands the groundswell of resistance within his electorate against the mine.
“Part of Dr Gillespie’s role is to listen to, and to represent, all of his constituents,” she said.
“These surveys are being conducted across Australia, and the Lyne results reflect the overwhelming opposition to the Adani mine that is being expressed across most electorates. Politicians need to understand that supporting the Adani coal mine in this country could get you voted out,” Ms Jones said.
