The group offers emergency assistance and financial help for anyone in the community who needs it.
BWNG’s emergency relief manager, Kim Wiesner stressed how important it is that people need ask for assistance before it’s too late.
Kim explained that changes to the system for claiming emergency payments means the wait is longer, so people need to come in early.
“We can’t help once the electricity has been cut off,” she said.
With the winter nights being chilly, Kim is worried people will be left without electricity to keep warm.
Kim also wants the community to know the door open is always open to anyone in need of emergency supplies, including food.
Emergency Relief funding allows the group to stock up with essentials items to help people who are struggling to put food on the table.
