The opening of the road was delayed by fallen trees after the initial hazard burn early last week.
Last Friday update:
Gloucester Tops will remain closed until early next week as a safety precaution.
National Parks and Wildlife Service have said that it may reopen Monday, August 28, subject to inspection.
Gloucester River camping area remains open.
Earlier:
National Parks and Wildlife Service (NPWS) began a hazard reduction burn at Gloucester Tops yesterday (August 23).
During the burn period, there will temporary closures of public areas to ensure public safety.
The gates leading into the park are closed at the Gloucester River Campground.
Gloucester Tops Road is still accessible leading up to the gates and including the campground.
The walking trails at the Gloucester River Campground will also be closed for the duration of the burn.
The public areas are due to be re opened by Friday, August 25.
