The group will continue to meet on the last Friday of each month between 11am and 1pm, except for September when the group will meet a week early on September 22 due to the October long weekend.
The focus of this group is to create and maintain an environment of inclusion, respect and support for men in the Gloucester region.
We believe this is best achieved by providing a safe space for men where we can speak freely, share our stories and build a support network that we can all benefit from.
The structure of this group is informal which facilitates a sense of collective ownership and enables a willingness to not only support each other but to reach out to those in the community who may need support.
A barbecue lunch, tea and coffee are provided which further reinforces the informal nature of the group.
The initial meeting was an outstanding success and consensus was reached regarding the initial aims of the group.
These include:
- a commitment to confidentiality
- to assist in linking individuals to appropriate services where required
- support for each other through respectful honest interactions
- a place where blokes can be blokes
Come along, have a cuppa, a bite to eat and become involved. The group is an initiative of the Bucketts Way Neighbourhood Centre.
