The theme this year is “the changing face of families in the bush”, hopefully to shine a light on the issues and challenges that are affecting woman and families throughout regional and rural NSW.
At the last meeting for Gloucester CWA Evening branch members decided to donate funds to various organisations, all schools in our area received donations towards their presentation nights, $1000 to Westpac Helicopter, $1000 to CWA of NSW Emergency Funds and $50 to Gloucester Little Athletics.
Congratulations to Denise Hawdon first with her rhubarb cake and Jill Laurie second, thanks to all who baked. For next meeting we are asked to make a rainbow cake & Monte Carlo biscuits hope we get plenty of entries.
To date CWA of NSW has donated $314,646 towards the Sir Ivan Fire funds; some of this money has been raised by members throughout the State with State Office also contributing. This is a very generous donation to assist residence and farms get established again after the severe fires this year.
The next meeting of the Gloucester Evening branch will be held at the CWA rooms on Thursday, September 14 commencing at 7pm new members welcome.
Awareness week
The CWA is calling for greater support across a number of key issues, and partnering with other organisations to deliver support and resources.
This year’s campaign focuses on four key areas:
- the rights of grandparents as primary carers of their grandchildren
- encouraging and assisting rural and regional women in starting their own small business
- advocating for greater financial literacy among rural and regional women
- building resilience among teenage girls in rural and regional NSW.
