Organisers of the 2016 Old Bar Beach Festival estimated that a record-breaking 30,000 people flocked to the seaside town this year to enjoy music, Kombis and coastal culture .
“We had a lot of comments from people saying it was their first time there and that they’d be back,” festival vice president Erin Byrne said.
Erin said the event had helped “people discover Old Bar”.
“It makes 12 months of hard work worth it,” she said.
Tourists flocked to enjoy rolling sets of music, a pop-up bar, and a surf competition among other attractions.
Saturday’s parade of Volkswagen Kombis was a highlight, with 161 vehicles participating, with 249 on display in total, a record amount.
