For the 2017 sponsors/charity day the Maggies selected to help out Nathan O’Brien, who is a lover of the Magpies, sponsoring and supporting them for many years now.
He suffered from a brain tumour a few years ago, but being strong, he has come through with flying colours.
The Magpies suspected that he would not accept these raised funds, as he thinks more of others than himself, but the club insisted it continue with this mission working with Fiona and Nathan to support a foundation that supported them.
The Mark Hughes Foundation helped Nathan, Fiona and family when they were in need so the Magpies decided to donate the raised funds on the day to this wonderful foundation.
The Gloucester Magpies took on the Morpeth Bulls in front of a stellar crowd, wearing donated Sydney Rooster jumpers and blue and white shorts. With the stadium buzzing, the Magpies never let up the attack all day, smashing the Bulls 44 points to 10.
The Gloucester Magpies would like to take this opportunity to announce they raised $8000 which has been donated, in conjunction with Nathan and Fiona O’Brien’s, wishes to the Mark Hughes Foundation.
It would not be possible without this great community who always put their hands deep into their pockets raising money for people in need. The Magpies would also like to give a big thank you to all the sponsors again and everyone who helped out during the day.
