Ruth has been running the Certificate III in Nursing for the group over the past 12 years, while continuing to work in aged care.
The Gloucester native has decided to give up the one day a week travel, but will continue to work in Maitland where she resides.
She started training to be a nurse when she was 17 years old, continuing through to achieve her Endorsed Enrolled Nurse (EEN).
Ruth said she was asked to start training Gloucester nurses in 2005 during a time when she was working in town.
BWNG staff Kim Wiesner said Ruth had trained all the nurses in Gloucester, however Ruth corrects that saying “not all.”
“I’m surprised at the amount of people still working at Gloucester who remember me training them,” Ruth smiled.
She finished off her 12 years having breakfast with the BWNG staff and lunch with her friends. Her students took her out for lunch the week before.
