The Bureau of Meteorology forecast the snowfall earlier this week. While it was only a light dusting, the promise of snow was enough for James Fleming to make the trip from Taree to Polblue campground. He captured pictures of the snowfall about 7am Thursday.
The strange weather coincides with a dramatic drop in temperatures. Barrington Tops is expected to hit a top of 7 degrees today, while Newcastle can expect the mercury to reach 18.
In the Lower Hunter where crews are still working on the bushfires from Wednesday, the temperature is expected to reach 19 degrees Celsius. It is a similar story in the Upper Hunter.
