Commencing back in 1992, this unique event is one of a kind in the State. It comprises a 10 kilometre bike ride, 4km kayak paddle and a 4km run.
Andrew Hughes, who recently competed solo in the Gloucester Mountain Man Tri Challenge, will be looking to defend his GHS title this year, particularly after his strong performance in the town event two weeks ago.
Last year’s female individual winner, Kyra Edstein will be part of a team this year, which opens the door for a new female champion in 2017.
There are 109 participants in the race, including 33 individual entries.
There are 15 Gloucester High School teams and 10 teams from Gloucester Primary School and one from Barrington Public School.
Student taking on the kayak leg participated in a training day with Barrington Outdoor Adventure Centre (BOAC) last Friday, September 15.
The course is based around Rocky Crossing on Barrington River where the event finishes, and a barbecue lunch is available for students and spectators.
To ensure the safety of competitors some road closures are necessary and these are outlined in MidCoast Council’s notices.
Parents and family members are welcome to come out to Rocky Crossing to support their children.
