Tri race success

The 25th annual Gloucester High School Tri Challenge was another success with students competing on a mountain bike, in a kayak and on foot.

This scaled down version of the Gloucester Mountain Man Tri Challenge began its journey in 1992 and has run consistently with students from both high school and primary school tackling the 10 kilometre bike ride from Bucketts Road to a 4km kayak down the Barrington River and 4km run return to Rocky Crossing.

Of the 110 competitors, 34 were individuals, 14 were team riders, 14 were team kayakers and 15 were team runners.

A total of 78 GHS students participated in the race and 32 primary students competed, with 10 teams from Gloucester Primary School and one from Barrington Public School.

Students from GHS who weren’t competing assisted with marshaling along different legs of the race, along with local volunteers.

After the final student crossed the finish line, everyone gathered for a sausage sizzle, thanks to the Gloucester Lions Club and a drink before the presentation began.

During the presentation, several students were awarded prizes for their efforts on the day, however results were finalised after the event.
