Eleven new councillors will be sworn in at MidCoast Council’s Taree chambers today (Wednesday, September 27).

They will take the oath of office at a ceremony at 1pm and the first ordinary meeting will start at 2pm. Election of the mayor and deputy mayor will be the first item of business.
The council will also decide where council will meet and what delegates will be sent to the upcoming NSW Local Government conference.
The councillors are David Keegan, Jan McWilliams, Brad Christensen, Len Roberts, Peter Epov, Troy Fowler, Kathryn Bell, Claire Pontin, David West, Katheryn Smith and Karen Hutchinson.
Council meetings are open to the public and everyone is welcome to attend.
The council agenda includes a development application for a manufactured homes estate on Black Head Road, Tallwoods. The application, which would see 202 sites established in four stages, had been advertised and 50 submissions were received. The council recommendation is the approve the development.
Also on the agenda is a report on water usage which predicts that unless decent rain is received in the next few weeks, water restrictions are likely.
