More than 100 people turned out in Gloucester’s Billabong Park to create a human sign spelling out Stop Adani, where signatures were taken in disagreement of taxpayers money going toward the mine project and on Friday, October 27 these will be presented to federal member for Lyne, David Gillespie at his Taree office at 11am.
Gloucester Knitting Nanna, Carol Bennett said the Sit In/Knit In may involve bit of noise and singing.
“We’ll be there to send a clear message to our politicians, that the majority of Australians do not want this mine,” Ms Bennett said.
According to organisers, the Big Day of Action was in the wake of the Four Corners program, Digging into Adani, which exposed alleged corruption, fraud and environmental damage.
“Adani can’t find a bank to back the project, so it’s depending on a $1 billion loan from the Northern Australia Infrastructure Fund,” Ms Bennett said.
