Members of Knitting Nannas groups from around the region protested the Adani mine out front of Federal member for Lynne, David Gillespie’s Taree office.
Around 25 protesters gathered peacefully on Friday, October 27 to deliver 144 signed cards asking Dr Gillespie to reject the $1 billion loan to assist the Adani Carmichael coal mine in Queensland.
Some of the signatures where collected at a recent rally held in Gloucester as part of the ‘Adani Day’ which saw 45 locations around Australia create human ‘Stop Adani’ signs.
Other signatures were collected from various events around the area within the Lynne electorate.
Protesters sang a few songs before delivering the papers to Dr Gillespie’s office; Dr Gillespie was not in the Taree office at the time due to parliamentary commitments.
Local police where on site to ensure the group kept the footpath and doorway clear for any pedestrians passing by the Victoria Street office.
