GPS teacher, Susie McLeod will be heading the charge for the first time, taking 20 year five and six students with her to Sydney for the big event.
With this year’s theme ‘Own the Moment’, the Guinness World Record holder Schools Spectacular is back and better than ever, showcasing the best singing and dancing talent from public schools across NSW on Friday, November 24 and Saturday, November 25 at QUDOS Bank Arena in Sydney.
The students have been busy rehearsing in the school library all the songs they will sing as part of the 2,700 strong mass choir, with the first big rehearsal in Sydney due to take place on Thursday, November 23.
Other schools from the region represented in the 2017 Schools Spectacular are Forster Public and Great Lakes College Senior Campus.
Last year marked an iconic chapter in Schools Spectacular history when their annual arena production broke the Guinness World Record for the Largest Amateur Variety Act in the world at its new home QUDOS Bank Arena, Sydney Olympic Park.
Returning to the same expansive venue, Schools Spectacular Creative Director, Sonja Sjolander said this year’s show is set to go a step higher.
“It will be mind-blowing,” Ms Sjolander said.
“There are so many young stars – whether signing or dancing on the huge stage or standing in the spotlight alone captivating the audience – each inspired to Own the Moment.”
“This year, Schools Spectacular is more than just an unparalleled arena spectacular because outside SpecFest will offer a wealth of activities for a new dimension of excitement for two hours before the show begins.”
Hosted by much loved musical director John Foreman, performances will feature the greatest musical hits of past and present including the Beatles, Frank Sinatra, Disney’s Moana, Ariana Grande, Stevie Wonder, Annie Lennox, Bruno Mars and the hottest musical theatre numbers direct from Broadway including Dear Evan Hansen.
