State Minister for Lands and Forestry, Paul Toole, Member for Upper Hunter, Michael Johnsen, MidCoast Council deputy mayor, Katheryn Smith and MidCoast council staff where invited to small gathering on Friday, November 10 ahead of Remembrance Day.
The event was held in recognition of the $12,946 of NSW Government grants funds received to help install the permanent bench seating in front of the tower.
Tidy Towns president, Norma Fisher welcomed the guests to the event and branch member, Bob Hewett thanked the guests for their support with getting the new seating installed.
“It’s a tremendous contribution to the area," Mr Hewett said.
The new seating means that Gloucester residents are able to send time paying tribute to those who have served at anytime during the year. It also provides more stable and comfortable seating for those who attend Anzac and Remembrance Day services at the tower.
“I’m very pleased to be at the clock tower to inspect this project ahead of the Remembrance Day proceedings in Gloucester,” Mr Toole said.
“The clock tower was made possible decades ago thanks to the hard work of the local community.”
