Coro captain Haydn Pascoe has led his side to victory over Yenda after an all round performance. Winning the toss and electing to bat look like the right option after Rob Rand (20) and Jono Morris (10) put on 37. Young gun Dean Bennett (29) carried on from where the openers left off combining well with Tom Valeri (9) before Valeri fell to the bowling of Andrew Potter (1/32). The fall of wicket brought Pascoe to the crease and from there the Cougars accelerated with the captain putting on 41 runs with Bennett before the later was bowled by Brodie Heron. The introduction of Tom Spry into the attack limited the damage Coro were able to do late as he picked up three late wickets as Coro finished their innings on 7/159. A slow start for Yenda put them on the back foot losing Potter (0) and Michael Turnell (2) to have the side at 2/4. A 44-run partnership between Simon Spiers and Spry lifted the side into a competitive position before Spiers was bowled by Sam Hutchinson (1-25). It was again Pascoe’s time to shine as he dismissed Spry, Brett Hazelman (1) and Matthew Staines (0). Shaun Stubbs and Ken Turner attempted to turn the game back in Yenda’s favour however once Turner was run out on four it was only Dan McGreal (11) left who offered any resistance. Coro maintained their position on top of the table with the 49 run victory while Yenda remain bottom.
