Men's bowls is back in full swing for the 2020 season with a field of 30 players challenging for the prize money on Thursday.
All games were evenly contested with the winners Kevin Burley, Terry Davies, Robbie Bowden narrowly defeating Bob Charman, Phil Walls, George Wisemantel 26-23. Runners-up were Steve Brown, Rob Heininger, Terry Carson def John Andrews, Nico Duynhoven, Jim Whittaker 18-16; Kevin Everett, Peter Sansom, Neville Atkins def Mick Butler, Wayne Groves, Neville Holstein 22-17; Terry Higgins, Mike Sheely, Brian Holstein def Lu Urby, Clive Redman, Alex Laurie 18-15 and Gordon Pritchard, Vic Hebblewhite, Jim McIntosh pipped Mark Groves, Craig Yates, Chris Pritchard 22-21.
Saturday Mixed bowls is now played at the earlier time of 9.30am due to the hot weather and a good field of 21 players turned out Saturday with winner-take-all being Kevin Everett, Jim Whittaker defeating John Andrews, Colleen Atkins 26-19; Lu Urby, Bev Germon, Di Pritchard def Kerrie Green, Bev Murray, Chris Pritchard 21-11; Mike Sheely, Lorraine Radcliffe, Ann Andrews def Neville Atkins, Judy Sheely, Di Lockwood 19-17 and Rob Heininger, Terry Davies def George Wisemantel, Jenny Burley, Del Buckton 18-16.
Pennant trials have been organised for February 1 against Wingham at home and we travel to Dungog on February 8 with the first round of Pennants proper being a double header on Feb 29 and March 1. The full draw is on the board for Pennant season.
Barefoot Mixed bowls will be held on Australia Day, Sunday, January 26 commencing at 9.30am followed by a traditional sausage sizzle, so don your Australia Day gear and come along.
All standards catered for and bowls will be available for use.
